Tulum. Tacos. Turtles.
My parents are literally saints and for Christmas gave Dallas and I a trip to Mexico. It was heaven on earth and such a blast hanging out with my parents for a week. If any of you have met them, you know it was a party.
We (meaning my family) have had some amazing times in Cancun, also some scary times. We were there in 2006 for Hurricane Wilma. But that sure hasn't stopped us from going back. Dallas had never been so it was so fun to take him to do all the things we love doing!
So here is a little guide/review of our amazing time in Cancun!
1. Cancun is on the Atlantic side of the ocean and so the water is crystal clear turquoise blue and my favorite of all. So of course we got some quality time in at the beach.
2. The ruins in Tulum. It is about an hour drive from Cancun (Hotel Zone) but so amazing to see. They are Mayan ruins and it is gorgeous and sits right on the ocean. On the way home there are awesome things to do. We stopped in the tiny town of Akumal where you can snorkle or scuba dive and there are tons of turtles! Also there are fresh water sink holes called Cenotes. You can for practically free swim/snorkle in these fresh water sink holes and they are so cool! Then we stopped in the town of Playa Del Carmen where they have a darling street called 5th Avenue (hah) that is closed off to cars and has lots of fun little stores (and Luis Vuitton? so random haha).
3. Cancun is a strip of land that surrounds a huge Lagoon in the middle. You can tour the lagoon in tiny little boats that you can drive yourself and go through all these junglely looking waterways that are narrow and completely enclosed. It is such a blast. You see lots of fish and can even see a crocodile because they live in the lagoon!
4. There are several islands off the coast, one is Cozumel where a lot of cruise ships stop, and the other is Isla Mujeres. It is only about a 30 minute boat ride to the tiny island and it is such a blast. This is one thing I had never done before and wished we would have had more time. It is so small you can rent a golf cart or Vespa and drive it around the entire island. There are hardly any cars! I am not going to lie, it is kinda a hippy hang out but fun to see for sure.

We had such a great time thanks to my darling Mom and Dad. Can't wait for many more Mexican Adventures (and lots of chips and guacamole) :)
